PRAYERSURGE FOR VIRGINIA TECH FAMILY

Holy God;

We are crushed by this tragedy that has come.

Our hearts cry out for every student and faculty memeber on this campus and for every family member who has suffered the loss of a beloved child or other member.

We are all affected.
We grieve for those who grieve.
We weep for our nation.

We know there are fractured families today have not understood the crises within their own walls for there are young children who grow into adult life and that are filled with anger, hatred, envy, strife and finally violence.

They can mask it for a while under the guise of eccentricity, individuality, personality.

BUT when it can no longer be contained and volitility erupts– hopelessness triumphs and others pay the price for the soul’s rage at life.

What a cost!

Precious, creative, endearing, cherished lives have been taken because of one man’s selfish cowardly act.

His life will be buried for ever.

Theirs will live on with the memory of significance, honor, achievement.

They were in college to learn and contribute to a better world.

They gave.

We received.

Now we must give.

Therefore we cry out to YOU for these grieving families.

YOUR WORD say. ” Blessed are they who mourn for they shall be comforted.”

Comfort comes from YOU.

We rest upon YOUR WORD.

It declares, ” Without faith it is impossible to please God, because anyone who comes to HIM must believe that HE exists and that He rewards those who earnestly seek Him.” Hebrews 11:6

We seek faith to believe for these are ominous times, Oh, Lord!

Every day some will go home to their reward– suddenly!.

Every day some will leave behind a legacy of faith. or futility.
Every day many will continue to search for meaning with questions and doubts.

YOU are the same GOD for us all.

YOU are present.

YOU are able to carry us through…

” Remember not the former things, Behold I will do a new thing, I will make a way for you THROUGH the wilderness..” Isaiah 43:19 and ff.

Forgive us for callous ways and slothful habits.

And so we come together and surge in prayer for those who remain ..who must remember every day what they have lost:

Parents with broken hearts will need a support system.

Students crushed by fear must begin again.

A nation devestated by a heinous act of evil must find a center once again.

BY an act of our will– We will continue.

We will all be more keenly aware of hidden dangers which threaten our way of life …in our neighborhoods, shopping malls– around the corner and yes, on our college campuses.

Unite us to pray, to be the people of God and then to do the work of God for one another.

Bring thousands who will help, lift, counsel, love and give back to these suffering families.

We shall not forget their treasure– young men and women who embraced life with imagination and talent.

Help us to live our lives in such away that the goodness of God can be manifested in daily living.

Help us to become more than we ever dreamed.

Help us never to give up.
Holy God,

We bow down before YOU this day as we pray and then we stand up with courage and determination as we carry the Banner of HOPE found in YOU alone.

Hear our prayer.

Come.

YOUR WORD says, “ He will do this.” Psalm 37:5

By God’s Grace and through YOUR “mercies which are new every morning, “

We come in Jesus’ Name.

One Response to “PRAYERSURGE FOR VIRGINIA TECH FAMILY”

  1. Donna says:

    Dear Lord,
In this awful event, I heard how many were shocked that it happened in “Mayberry” – it can’t happen here. It’s safe here. I have learned there IS NO safe place. YOU are our safe place – our refuge, shield, Rock, Strong Tower, Defender. Our safety is in you and your will. Life is short and we never know when you will call us home, so let us be prepared to meet you, any day, any moment and be a witness to those who do not know you. Let us be more aware of others, thier hurts, their needs, instead of self. Allow us to be used in your work, to minister to a world totally out of balance. Forgive our nation for turning from you, and bring us back to you. Please comfort every family member, every student, our nation, in this sad tragedy. May we keep our focus on YOU, Lord. In Jesus name I pray, Amen
