Faithful Friends
I always thank my God as I remember you in my prayers because I hear about your faith in the Lord Jesus and your love for all the saints. I pray that you may be active in sharing your faith, so that you will have a full understanding of every good thing we have in Christ. Your love has given me great joy and encouragement because you…have refreshed the saints. Philemon 1:4-7
That’s what friends are for!
God knew we would have to have brothers and sisters in Christ to speak Truth into our hearts When they were dry, broken, spent or filled with joy, hope and expectancy.
In this long hot summer, are you sharing your faith with any one?
God is watching.
In this heat wave that stifles our sensitivities, are you a refreshment to someone?
God is watching.
In this smothering trial of debilitating weakness, are you carrying another in prayer?
God is watching.
HE cares and looks for hearts that are fully devoted to Him.
Why?
Because HE is faithful.
HE is the ultimate FRIEND and HE wants us to be faithful to the call of faith.
Has anyone heard about your faith?
Do you have a full understanding of the good things we have right now in God?
Is someone being encouraged as they watch your walk of faith?
Paul asked for refreshment… refresh my heart in Christ. Confident of your obedience, I write to you, knowing that you will do even more than I ask.” Philemon 1:20b,21
An e-mail from a friend reminding me of God’s Word refreshes me.
A bucket of roses set upon my front porch by a caring friend refreshes me.
A hug that reaches my heart’s ache refreshes me.
A piece of music that takes me to God Throne refreshes me.
A cup of coffee with a devoted caregiver or a family member refreshes me.
A note or card reminding me of the goodness of God refreshes me.
A prayer prayed for strength and endurance refreshes me.
The sweltering humidity of my long hot summer of grief is a reality BUT so is the refreshment of God through His people.
Make an effort to be” a refreshment ” to someone and you will find yourself refreshed.
Paul needed this.
So do I.
So do you.
He was confident that his friends would do MORE than he asked.
I am too,
Because they have.
God is watching.
Be found faithful in your assignment!!
