Biography
Billie Cash is a southern lady of many talents who claims Memphis, Tennessee as her hometown. She attended the University of Memphis, where she majored in Theater. Her communications skills led to successful ventures in radio announcing at WHER, America’s first “all women’s” station, TV commercials, fashion commentating and teaching. On July 4, 1963, Billie was wed to Ensign Roy Cash, Jr., USN in Pensacola, FL, and the adventure of life as a Navy wife began to energize and showcase her numerous abilities.
Billie’s experiences in military life, which included many moves, separations and challenges led to the development of topical themes surrounding a woman’s life within a biblical perspective. Her own family life and struggle to be God’s woman brings freshness, authenticity, accountability and hope to today’s woman.
With this enriched background, her ministry of encouragement was launched and took her all over the country, leading retreats, conferences, church seminars, chapel events and National Prayer Breakfasts. Billie has been featured on Christian Broadcasting Network (CBN). In addition, her musical accomplishments as a soloist include performances with The Norfolk Symphony, The Rancho Bernardo Chorale, Christian Women’s Clubs and she and her daughter Kellye “Miss America 1987, an accomplished musician, also do conferences together www.kellyecash.com
Billie has served in leadership positions in Stonecroft Women’s Connections in California, Virginia and Rhode Island. In the Navy community, she developed and conducted motivational workshops on topics such as Burnout, Self-Esteem, Deployments, Leadership, Solitude and Time. These workshops have also been extended to hospital nursing staffs, tactical aircraft squadrons and air wings, Navy ships and shore commands, professional women’s civic, sales and marketing clubs and public schools. Her presentations have taken her to the four corners of the country–from Charleston, SC to Whidbey Island and Bangor, WA; from Groton, CT to San Diego, CA; from Alameda, CA to Washington, DC and Norfolk, VA; and, for Marine and Army families, from Parris Island, SC to Fort Bragg, NC. Billie’s international ministry began in 1994 with itineraries to the British Isles with the Dominican Republic being added in 2003. She has conducted highly successful speaking tours with numerous churches and missionary organizations and her Christian music CD “Light Your World”, was recorded at the Christ for the Nations Bible College in Midhurst, England.
Billie is the author of five books, Windows of Assurance, Light Breaking Through, Autumn Rain, PRAYERSURGE,A Pillow on the Highway and new release The Shelter. Billie and her husband, Captain Roy Cash, Jr., USN (Retired), have two children; daughter, Kellye and son, Carey. Kellye resides in Milan, Tennessee, with her husband, Todd, son Brady, and daughters, Cassidy and Tatum. Carey, a LCDR is married to the former Charity Ellis; they have three sons, Caleb, Luke and Nathanael, and four daughters, Phoebe, Ella Joy, Bea and Giorgia. Carey, the author of bestseller, A Table in the Presence, is the Command Chaplain at a Naval Support Facility in MD. Billie and her husband, Roy, reside in Collierville, Tennessee, just east of Memphis.
