Ant Hill Faith
Got to the ant, you sluggard;
Consider its ways and be wise!
It has no commander, no overseer,or ruler
Yet, it stores its provisions in summer and gathers its food in harvest.
Proverbs 6:6-8
Summertime in Tennessee is hot.
Humidity holds us captive.
The “dog days” come.
A summer shower is a heavenly reprieve.
One morning as I was walking in the dripping heat, I noticed an ant hill along the side walk but I just passed on by.
When the shower hit,I stumbled upon lots of ant hills.
I supposed the moisture helps the congregating.
Some were multi leveled mounds.
Such industry from a creature who doesn’t have much life insurance. is amazing.
With a swift kick of the foot the ant hill is brought down and its inhabitants dispersed.
Sometimes we do it without a thought.
This is the time of year we plan to get away from the norm.
We want a break.
Not ants,
They’re working.
In fact they are gathering provisions, even preparing for harvest, looking ahead at the future.
What do they do?
They scavenge for food, are good in battle and work together to care for the colony.
Summertime faith should be a lot like the ant hill.
We need to spend time together because our very presence with one another generates energy, resuscitates life.
In Community we become fortified in faith.
We inhale spiritual oxygen and exhale the possibilities found in God alone.
We become more together.
Some of us are nurses.
Some are soldiers.
Some don’t know who they are yet.
We all have work to do.
Planning for harvest is a good thing.
It is wise.
So consider the ant.
Why?
Because the ant’s story is in the Word of God.
HE left it for us to ponder.
Ask Your Heavenly Father for His creative plans for you this summer.
Dream a little.
Reach out to someone new.
Gather.
Seek.
Read.
Remember.
Be present in the moment with HIM and HE will be present to YOU.
” I love those who love me and those who seek me will find me.” Proverbs 8:17
Love God and be wise.
There will always be “dog days.”
Watch out for ant hills!
HE REIGNS,
Billie
