A Thirsty Heart

Come all you who are thirsty,
come to the waters and you who have no money, come buy and eat.” Isaiah 55:1a

Sometimes Truth encounters us on the road.
Today it did.
I was out walking and taking in the balmy breezes, the magnificent concert from the birds.
The sensation of blessing surrounded me lifting my fatigue.
What a gift!
Sometimes we KNOW the way to His fountain.
Sometimes we do not.
Sometimes we simply forget.
I KNOW that there are some tests my mother needs for a surgical procedure that may be forthcoming.
I am to take her and see if she is a candidate or not.
A fracture to a lumbar in her spine could be stabilized with this procedure if she can have it.
I KNOW I am to be involved.
At 82, her life is fragile.

Today I am a pilgrim yearning for respite as I struggle with the next step in this uncertain place.

People all around us are looking for God in different ways.

Sometimes they know it.
Sometimes they do not.
My next door neighbor is a new widow in her early thirties.
A young couple has been told that their unborn child may be handicapped.
A precious girl in my church came up to me recently to buy a book “only if her mother could find Jesus” in it.
She was 12 years old.
I assured her that she could and then I gave her the book.
The concerns of our world are always with us.
BUT so is JESUS!

Today as I headed towards home on my walk, I spied the bottle of water on a bench.
It has been there every day of this week.
As I have passed it, I always think, ” I wished there was a trash can so I could pitch it.”
I do not pick it up because I am a long ways from home.
It is just there.
Someone stopped for a break and then forgot it.
Just a few feet away, I find an empty cup.
It once had a owner too.

Now I am thirsty.
The power of suggestion creates that within us,
And once again I have a thirst for God.

The search will be there.
The pursuit is ours.
We will be spent and consumed with life’s demands.
But HE tells us to “ Come to the waters…. to come all who are thirst.
So we can drink in HIS Presence,
If we are willing to seek HIM.
Or we can forget.
We can lose our water bottle and pitch our cup out the window thinking we can find our way to ENOUGH.
Let the wicked forsake his way and the evil man his thoughts.
Let him turn to the Lord and he will have mercy on him and to our God for he will freely pardon.” Isaiah 55:7

When we find mercy and pardon, we are drinking from the only well that quenches thirst.
HE IS THE WELL.

Today come to the water.
Drink.
Receive.
Believe.
Continue.
Thenyou will go out with joy and be led forth in peace. The mountains and the hills( and the roadways and paths:0)… will burst forth into song before you and all the trees will clap their hands.”
Isaiah 55:12

I KNOW this Truth.
It happened again for me today.
It will for you.

EMBRACE JESUS!
Travel with HIM.
Be blessed in HIM.
HE IS ENOUGH!

Along HIS Path, I am with you

Billie, I am thinking of Frances, and praying for her! This poem touched my heart. It’s so true. Life apart from God leads to nothing. Everyone I encounter lately, is overwhelmed with prayer needs, including myself, at times, and Jesus is the answer. I find I need to press into the Father and keep my mind off circumstances. His will be done and His will comes in His timing. The Bread of Life never gets stale! I always enjoy your view/outlook! God bless you, Donna
